This project includes design of all buildings and infrastructure on a 10-acre site necessary for a fully functional, highly efficient and sustainable highway maintenance and vehicle maintenance facility. Buildings on the site include:
• Administrative/Maintenance Building: To house approximately 28 maintenance employees and administrative staff (operators, mechanics, and emergency responders). The building will include a wash bay and maintenance bays with heavy duty lift.
• Truck and Equipment Storage Building to house approximately 13 trucks
• Salt Storage Building
• Emergency Generator
The goal on this project is to provide a modern, highly efficient maintenance campus to support travel along this new highway and those working daily to keep our roads safe and in top condition. That vision extends to the future with longevity a key consideration in the design. Supporting more efficient operations and the Turnpike’s values that include stewardship of the environment, we integrated a groundsource geothermal heat pump system, rainwater capture, and other sustainable technologies into the project
This facility includes a vehicle wash system that utilizes a rain water collection system, as well as in floor radiant heating with geothermal wells and an outside air recovery system. The repair bay includes all maintenance and repair equipment with a 5 Ton overhead crane to maintain all the turnpike vehicles.
Included on this site is the fuel island which includes (2) 6,000 fuel tanks and a Calcium Chloride/Salt Brine storage facility for pre treatment of the roads in winter conditions
